U.S. House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) will address members of the National Restaurant Association at the NRA's Public Affairs Conference April 18.
Speaker Boehner will talk to the group about the 112th Congress's agenda and how restaurateurs can make a difference on critical business issues.
The NRA's 26th annual Public Affairs Conference -- the restaurant industry's largest grassroots lobbying event -- runs April 17 and 18, in Washington, D.C. Speaker Boehner will address Conference attendees the morning of April 18, shortly before they head to Capitol Hill for a day of lobbying on high-priority restaurant issues such as the health care law, labor regulations, regulatory reform, and other topics.
Other conference speakers include Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Ron Brownstein, editorial director for National Journal.
Speaker Boehner grew up working in his father's southwest Ohio tavern, and ran his own small business prior to being elected to Congress. He has served in numerous leadership positions during his 11 terms in Congress, and was elected Speaker of the House in November 2010. His priorities in Congress include cutting government spending and removing barriers that make it difficult for private-sector businesses to create jobs.
The Public Affairs Conference is expected to draw more than 500 politically active restaurateurs from across the country for two days of speeches from national leaders, issue briefings, lobbying visits, a congressional reception and a gala awards dinner. Early-bird registration for the event ends March 16. For details and to register, visit www.restaurant.org/paconference.
